i love that every pokémon is someone’s favourite pokémon. it doesn’t matter how much you dislike a pokémon or how forgettable you you think a design is, out there is someone who thinks it’s their baby. my coworker who only discovered pokémon through pokémon go absolutely loves tangela and has a small army of fully powered up ones. at an expo once i saw a woman at a booth desperately trying to find an onix plushie because it was her daughter’s absolute favourite. i talked with someone recently who announced sudowoodo as their tippy top favourite. every single one is loved by someone and idk, i think that’s gotdang heartwarming

He sabotaged Vietnamese peace talks
He bombed the shit out of Cambodia and Laos, which led to the rise of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge
He helped overthrow a democratically-elected president and put murderous dictator Augusto Pinochet in charge of Chile; Pinochet murdered tens of thousands of people
He tried to stop Carter’s government from ending mass-murder in Argentina
He supported Indonesia’s invasion of East Timor, which led to the deaths of about a quarter of East Timor’s people
In short, he’s spent his whole political career supporting mass-murder and oppression, and the United States has rewarded him for it over and over again.
unless you’re planning on starting and completing a socialist revolution by november 6th there is absolutely no reason to abstain from voting. it is not a blood pact. you are not beholden to democrats when you vote for them over abstaining. there IS a lesser of two evils and it’s not inaction. every republican voted in kavanaugh and only one democrat did. statistically we are literally safer with democrats in office.
and no, i’m not planning on relinquishing communist ideals in deference to dems. i just don’t think as black and white as “anything short of a communist revolution is useless.” roe v wade is in jeopardy and women WILL die if it gets overturned. leftists sitting on their asses are about as useful as the thoughts and prayers of school shootings
U.S. diplomats are reportedly lobbying to replace language alluding to gender identity at the United Nations with terminology affirming the White House’s belief gender is designated by birth. According to The Guardian, officials requested the phrase “gender-based violence” be swapped with “violence against women” in a sex trafficking report.
Representatives from the U.S. argue terminology which acknowledges the existence of trans people is “vague and politically correct language.”
As U.N. officials told The Guardian, the Trump administration believes such terms reflect “what it sees as an ‘ideology’ of treating gender as an individual choice rather than an unchangeable biological fact.”
