“Instead of buying expensive organic sheets, donate that money to organizations that are fighting to keep agricultural runoff out of our rivers.
Instead of driving to an organic apple orchard to pick your own fruit, use that time to volunteer for an organization that combats food deserts (and skip the fuel emissions, too).
Instead of buying a $200 air purifier, donate to politicians who support policies that keep our air and water clean.
Instead of signing a petition demanding that Subway remove one obscure chemical from its sandwich bread, call your local representatives to demand they overhaul the approval process for the estimated 80,000 untested chemicals in our products.
Instead of taking yourself out to dinner at a farm-to-table restaurant, you could take an interest in the Farm Bill and how it incentivizes unhealthy eating.”
Reminder that “there is no ethical consumption under late stage capitalism ” is a call to action, not complacency.

I’m not defending her or anything but honestly, what do you expect? She’s a mainstream American politician. She might be better than most but if any politician at this point ran on a platform of not deporting anyone then they’d instantly be seen as too radical and “idealistic” by the media and the general public. I mean it took us a very long time before most people got on board with the idea that having a health care system similar to basically every other first world country wasn’t too radical.
The context for this was that a 95-year old Nazi war-crime suspect who happened to live in the district for which she is running for Congress was finally deported (he was actually ordered to be deported 2004 but no country would accept him until now, when Germany finally agreed), and the GOP attacked her for it, and then when she clarified that yes, she still wants to abolish ICE but some deportation will be necessary, like the deportation of Nazis suspected of being war criminals, the left attacked her for that, because that makes her a cop.
Tumblr’s tag search problems and a fix/workaround.
!!Attention NSFW and other effected blogs!!
Yesterday I said that I had found a solution to our tag problems, and I’d be doing a write-up on how to fix this, and a workaround for the time being. This is that post. This will be pretty in depth, so if you are serious about your content and others being able to find your content, I encourage you to read this post in its entirety.
First the most important question: Why is Tumblr’s tag search broken?
The answer is simple: its not. Its broken for you. We can all agree that Tumblr has started cracking down on NSFW/Explicit blogs, and this is another situation that has affected us. The reason why your tag search is broken is because Tumblr has marked your blog as “Explicit”, an option which you cannot reverse once its done. You will see an example of this below in a bit. This is Tumblr’s solution to disallow minors from searching for your original content that is tagged. The problem with this, is it disallows everyone from searching for your tags. This to me isn’t a solution, its causing more problems for the rest of us.
What is effected, and what happens?
What the main problem here is, when users go to your blog, the search bar is utterly useless. You can search for “me” or “#me” and you will always get the generic Tumblr error messages that there is “nothing here”, when you’ve clearly seen original posts and posts with the #me tag. Most times, even when you search for “#me” it shows completely unrelated posts that have no actual “me” tag, and does not show original content exclusively.
How can I fix this?
There are a few things you can do to help thwart this problem, both for the mobile Tumblr app, as well as people using web browsers.
Here you can see, not only is the blog marked as explicit, but the first option is unchecked. If this option is checked, it disallows anyone using a browser from viewing your full blog. This means no one can type “yourblog.tumblr.com/tagged/tag” in their browser and bring up posts under that specific tag. Having this option unchecked will allow users to view the full version of your blog (theme, layout, etc), as well as view your tags if they type them in the address bar.
Now lets get to the good part..
The best end-all workaround (that works).
This is where it gets more involved. Regardless if you choose to have your Tumblr viewable in the dashboard or not, this solution will work.
You need to make a Master Tag List post and a link to it in your bio.
Below is an example of a Tag List Post. I will explain what you need to do for this to work and why it works.
As you can see here, this post lists all of your most common tags, and tags in which you use the most, or want more exposure to.
The only way Tumblr allows you to view someone’s tags, is users need to find a post in your blog (usually having to scroll endlessly to find one), that has the tag they’re looking for and click on that tag to find the rest. Making a “Tag List” post puts all these tags together in one place and linked in your bio, for easy access. Because this is all done within your blog, clicking the tags in this post will also bring up all the posts corresponding to that tag, bypassing the search altogether. Tumblr has made it useless to us, so we won’t use it at all.
**These steps you need to take require you to edit your blog bio in a web browser**
• Create and publish a “Tag List” post. • Get the URL to that post (example yourblog.tumblr.com/post/28234509283/) • Create a link to your new “Tag List” post in your blog bio
To create a link you need to know the HTML code for links, which will be:
<a href=“URL”>Link Text</a>
You need to replace URL with the link to your post. Keep the quotes. “Link Text” you can make whatever you wish.
Thats it! Users can now view your tags properly.
Obviously this, like I said, bypasses the search altogether, which means you need to think about what users who come to your blog are going to want to search for and adjust your tags accordingly. The obvious ones are your “me” and equivalent tags. The great thing about this solution is you can always go back and edit the post to add more tags if and whenever you wish.
I hope you all adopt this system and can finally rid yourself of frustration. Spread this post like wildfire to all your followers and NSFW bloggers and everyone who is effected by this nightmare. You all finally have a solution and can breathe again.
This is still very relevant, even after Tumblr’s most recent purge, a lot of my fellow NSFW bloggers are being affected by this. This is the only tried and true method and way you are going to fix your tags, forever.
Is 2017 a long time ago? Also they keep doing things like this. I don’t get how them dressing up like the nazi party at a Holocaust memorial is a little mistake. Same with the atomic bomb shirt in Japan, I guess there was also political commentary involved in the shirt, but still fucked up. Who the fuck does a tour in Japan and wears a shirt making fun of the atomic bomb?
Edit: I see a few people are reblogging my post and I wanted to clarify something. I can’t find sources saying it was BTS who did the photoshoot in the memorial, and I guess people are confusing the group with someone else. THAT BEING SAID:
