lemonyandbeatrice:

if a white person says “butch & femme are lesbian specific identities” they are right – within the context of white (and many non-Black) communities

Black identity is a little different bc of how gender & sexuality exist when you step outside of the confines of white supremacy – so you do have butch & femme people who aren’t women and you have butch & femme women who aren’t necessarily lesbians

(within Black communities many people use more broad terms (and that’s how wlw came into existence in the first place) so my friends who are Black femmes aren’t necessarily women and they aren’t necessarily lesbians and that’s a specific and tangible identity in spaces with Black people)

I guess this is just yet again me going “please for the love of god don’t try to dictate or police the terms Black people use for themselves bc you have no clue what it’s like to live in this world as a Black person”

TIL that Nestle earned the nickname “baby killer” in the mid 1970s after a bad marketing ploy killed many children in Africa.

via reddit.com

their “marketing ploy” involved convincing mothers formula was better than breast milk in all cases, which lead to babies being fed contaminated formula made with contaminated water, which lead to thousands of deaths. So nestle does still very much have that blood on their hands. Not to mention they’ve been trying to convince the world to let them do it again. They really don’t have a problem killing actual children, newborn babies, to boost sales, let that sink in a second.
